Looking for Thetis Island Photos!

Forbes Hall Community Centre – Fall Fundraiser
A calendar showing islanders' favourites spots and views of Thetis is being created, and your photos are wanted!
Do you have a special photo that says “Thetis” to you? A view you wake up to, a hidden gem you walk to, or a place where you sit and contemplate life, or a view that stopped you in your tracks? A series of 12 photos will be made into a calendar for a Fall Fundraiser for Forbes Hall.
A range of photos will be chosen, to show Thetis off in all her seasons. Please send in a photo you’d like to share with others and help to raise funds for Forbes Hall. The calendar will make a great gift for family and friends.
Please provide the month, year and location the photo was taken, as well as your name as photographer.
Do not submit photos of identifiable people. By sending in a photo you permit TICA to edit as needed and use the image for the calendar with net proceeds going to TICA / Forbes Hall Community Centre.
Send photos to info@forbeshall.ca if you’d like to help us out with this project. All submissions received by September 30th will be considered.

Irresponsible Driving

Whoever the two irresponsible guys who were riding their motorcycle at around 50 mph in our lane at the south end of the harbour on Pilkey Point causing us to swerve onto the shoulder with you clipping the side of our truck at 3:50pm September 7th you need to grow up. An adult will pull over to exchange paperwork or at least apologize for upsetting my wife. It's your problem driving without insurance but if I were ten years older my reflexes might not have been as sharp allowing me to get off the road as far as I did. Carrying beer and riding like a fool is an accident looking to happen.

I'm more concerned about your unsafe driving possibly hitting someone walking or riding a bike killing them. IMO you were only a second before having a head on and going into intensive care or a funeral parlor leaving your family behind.

The damage to our truck should be reported to the RCMP and still might but upsetting my wife really pisses me off. Grow up and act like an adult instead of a child.

Tetanus and Shingles Vaccine Clinic Saturday, Sept 30th at Forbes Hall

Mohamed (Mo) Osman, the pharmacist from Rexall on Esplanade in Chemainus, has kindly agreed to come to Thetis on Sept 30th and give Tetanus and/or Shingles vaccines.

You are eligible for a tetanus booster if your last shot was 5 to 10 years ago. Tetanus is covered by BC Medical Services.

You are eligible for the Shingles vaccine (which is usually not covered by BC Medical Services) if:

1. You have never had the vaccine.
2. You had the older version of the vaccine (it was a one dose vaccine).

If you have had shingles, you may still be eligible for the vaccine - talk to Mo when you call. Note the Shingles vaccine is now a two-dose vaccine with the second dose given 2 - 6 months after the first.

TO REGISTER: Call Mo at 250 246 2151 with your PHN number to sign up, OR you can email him at 7114rx@rexall.ca .

If you have any questions including whether you are eligible for these vaccines, please direct them to Mo.
