Jollity Farm Weekly Menu Planning

UPDATE: Instead of stocking our KIOSK on Wednesday we will be stocking up the fridge at Telegraph Marina. Through the season we will generally be adding fresh stock to their fridge every 2-3 days so you can always depend on fresh produce. Enjoy fresh baking and a great cup of coffee on the deck at Telegraph when you do your local grocery shopping!

On the fresh list this week:

  • Salad
  • Kale
  • Chard
  • Peas
  • Beans
  • Plums
  • Cherry Tomatoes
  • San Marzano Tomatoes
  • Zucchini
  • Cucumbers
  • Melons
  • Fresh Garlic
  • Fresh Onions
  • Carrots
  • Beets
  • Parsley
  • Potatoes
  • Arugula

(and probably more!)

From the Thetis Island Farm Co-op kitchen:

Zucchini Baba Ganoush - topped with Zaatar and a mild spice oil drizzle

Tzatsiki - made with creamy Tree Island Greek Yogurt and Jollity cukes, dill, parsley and fresh garlic

Jolly Green Sauce

Carrot & Ginger Salad Dressing

Muffins - Caramelized Plum with Cardamom and Pecans - made with organic flour blend and our free range eggs

Flower Power!

Medium and Large size bouquets, plus the cutest posies available at the Farm and Telegraph Marina (or by pre-order )

We are starting to have some very special Van Gogh Fantasy sunflowers appearing in bouquets (check out Sunflower Steve online to learn more about these incredible flowers)

With thanks, Jollity Farmers

Please...

Whoever is letting out their barking dog out at 5:30 the last two mornings & again at 7 this morning please go outside with it to prevent waking up the whole island. We live here because we love the peacefulness.

Fall Quarterly Deadish-line

We'll be working on the Fall issue of the Quarterly starting August 1st. Please let us have any stories, reports, notices, ads, poems, letters - whatever - by then, or at least let us know by then if something will be coming. Send to quarterly@thetisisland.net .
BTW - we ALWAYS answer emails. If you send us something and there's no response within a day or so, please email veronicashelford@gmail.com or call or text 250-701-9336 - it'll mean there's an issue with the address and I'll want to fix it.

And thank you!!!

Chairs for Sale

Four clunky, funky, skookum chairs for sale. Solid 1½ ” wood, bolted not screwed. Guaranteed useless to throw across the room. 3-year-olds will not break them. Not recommended as elegant dining furniture but will be excellent for that rustic, Viking look you might be trying to achieve. $50 each firm or all four for $25 each (negotiable), and I will deliver free on the island.

ThINC Nature House - Weekend Activities

Saturday, July 15
2:00 pm - 4:00 pm Seaquarium Drop-in
Location: The Nature House at The Portal, 254 North Cove Road
Come by the Seaquarium at the Nature House to see what new species we have collected from Friday’s dive demo! We will feature a new creature of the week and feed some shrimp and mussels to the new residents.

We will also be at the Howling Wolf Market between 10am - 2pm talking about our
programs, projects, and selling a few items, including ThINC t-shirts and the very popular colouring book, 'Learn and Colour the Northeast Pacific' which features the charismatic, mysterious, and ecologically important creatures of the Northeast Pacific! Look for the blue tent!

Sunday, July 16
10:00 pm - 12:00 pm Harvest Hours at the PAG

Location: The People's Apothecary Garden, Lot 62 North Cove Road
Erica will be giving the garden a good soaking to help lift those thirsty leaves. Drop by anytime between 10-12 to harvest plants for your medicinal or culinary needs or take a walk around learning about our plants using the deck of PAG cards.

2:00 pm - 4:00 pm S4: Global Climate (In)Justice with Eden Luymes

Location: Forbes Hall
Join Eden for a presentation and discussion about Climate Justice - What is it? How can we work towards it? She will also be discussing her research on the Paris Agreement, global climate governance, and the potential of a new treaty to ban fossil fuels - the Fossil Fuel Non-Proliferation Treaty. Eden's research focuses on the impacts of neoliberalism and (neo)colonialism on climate policy and reframes addressing climate change as an opportunity to heal our relationships with the earth and each other.
