Voting on Saturday October 15th

General voting day is usually the most publicized or widely known voting opportunity resident electors and non-resident property electors have to cast their ballot in local elections.

The right to vote in local elections is conferred on resident electors and non-resident property electors.

Resident electors are persons that may be eligible to vote in local elections based on where they live. Non-resident property electors are persons that live in one municipality or electoral area and own property in a different municipality or electoral area where they can also vote. Students who attend educational institutions away from their place of residence may also be eligible to vote in local elections.

Candidate Response to CVRD Recreation Funding Vote

I invited the CVRD Electoral G Candidates to provide a 1-page answer on how they will vote on the referendum and what they will do if the referendum is approved? Lynne Smith responded which is posted at https://www.thetisisland.net/info/. Jesse McClinton declined. He intends to send a broader communication out to all of Thetis Island which will have information about the referendum.

Forbes Hall Library

Each week there are scheduled times when a volunteer library attendant is on duty.

We Look forward to having you join us, we're there to answer questions, talk about ideas, and generally there to help you out, if needed.  On Sundays we offer tea and goodies - a happy place to meet for a chat with fellow island bibliophiles.

Hours:

Saturday 10:00 am until 1:00 PM

Sunday 1:00 pm until 4:00 pm

Monday 10;00 am until 1:00 pm

The library is always open after 10:00 am when there is a Community Activity at the hall and the entry door is open.  We have a simple honour system for signing out books and DVD's, instructions are at the sign out desk.  If you need help, ask the attendant on duty.  For returns when the building is closed, please use the drop box by the Courtside Entrance.

We hope you enjoy our lovely little island library.

Thetis Island LTC Committee Meeting Nov 29th is Cancelled

The scheduled Thetis Island Local Trust Committee (LTC) in person Regular Meeting on Tuesday, November 29, 2022 @ 9:30am has been cancelled. 

Trust Council has moved their scheduled meeting from November 1 to mid-November and as such newly elected trustees will not be sworn in until then. Given this is the case, the current LTC has decided to cancel the November 29, 2022 meeting.

Inside Woodstoves

The nights are starting to get a bit chilly, and you will want to fire up your wood stove in the evenings.  Please make sure your chimney has been cleaned from your last spring fires and most importantly make sure your spark screen on the chimney has no holes for embers to escape.  We are still in EXTREME and any sparks from your indoor wood stove could land on nearby dried grass or fallen leaves and ignite a brush fire. 

Don’t burn paper, cardboard or garbage in your wood stove. 

If you have an alternate method of heating your house (e.g. electric)) please consider using that while we wait out this dry spell.
