Thetis Island Improvement District Update

At a meeting of the Board of Trustees of the Thetis Island Improvement District on May 4th the consolidated financial statements for the year ending December 31st, 2021, were approved. The entire audit package is posted on the TIID site at: https://www.thetisislandfire.ca/tiid/financial/Thetis%20Island%20Improvement%20District%202021%20-Final%20Financial%20Statements.pdf

Highlights of the audit are:

  • Maintenance, Operations and Administration were under budget by $17,055
  • Capital Projects were over budget by $64,138, primarily due to the Water Tender replacement project.
  • The Capital Works (savings) Account increased by $8,288 to $298,122.

Furthermore, the Improvement District will be holding its Annual General Meeting on Saturday July 9th, 2022, at 11 AM at Forbes Hall Community Centre. This public meeting is to receive the audited financial statements for 2021, to report on the operations of the Thetis Island Volunteer Fire Department, the Improvement District, and whatever other items of business may be raised.

One trustees' term is up this year and Bill Dickie has agreed to stand for another term. At the AGM, we will call for nominations from the floor, and if an election is required, we will hold a secret ballot vote at that time.

More information will be posted as we get closer to the AGM.

Any questions, please do not hesitate to call.

Forbes Hall Gardening and Plant Sale

The Forbes Hall Gardening and Plant Sale is coming up on Saturday, May 21 from 1-3 pm.
We invite you to donate plants; to divide your perennials, pot up unwanted trees and plants and set up a table to sell them with all or part of the profits collected for upcoming installation of the garden at Forbes Hall.

We will also accept donations of plants that we can sell if you don't want to have your own table.

We are planning a fun day with games and a cash barbeque put on by the fire department.

If you have garden supplies such as pots, decorations, seeds, or house plants, you are invited to sell them at your own table.

We are excited to get into the garden with you and to engage in a series of fun collective learning and sharing experiences.

Please call or email to book a table or donate plants.

Thetis Cyclists

The 'Tour de Thetis' bicycle group gets together after their ride on the first and third Saturday of each month.

All cyclists, young and ancient, on traditional or e-bikes are welcome to join us tomorrow at the Community Hall at 11 a.m. after your ride.

While many gather about 9 a.m. do the full 'tour' -- starting at the community hall and touching the ends of North Cove Rd., Forbes Dr., Bella Vista Rd., Sunrise Pt. Rd., and Pilkey Point -- you can choose your own route.

The goal is to get to the hall at 11 for a chat and Fred's famous home-made cookies.

For more, call Dave at 250 246-3530
