Monday, July 11, 2022 at 3:31PM Over the summer, Athenia and I are working hard at learning to regulate our bodies and emotions when under stress. Does anyone have the game "Operation", that they would like to part with...Also any other child geared board games that can be stressful to play and require oneself to regulate.
Hopefully this activity will help me🙂.....and her, have a calm and enjoyable summer.
Thank you

Sunday, July 10, 2022 at 12:15PM In addition to normal updates provided at TIRRA General Membership Meetings, there is a call to all voters (TIRRA members and property owners) to attend.
At the April TIRRA AGM, there was a member approved motion for TIRRA executive to pursue the reopening of the recycle portion of yard services. An information sheet** has been prepared, providing updates on suppliers, taxation, products accepted/not accepted and options: most significantly the incremental costs required to facilitate removal of recyclables from our island.
TIRRA Solid Waste Committee does not intend to come to the GM with a prepared motion: we wish the community to provide direction via discussion and attendance.
We expect a motion will be received from the floor which will have an impact on residential property owners (taxpayers) and/or those who utilize the recycle service. Therefore we strongly encourage your attendance.
There is a separate document which provides a cost analysis** (breakdown of cost and historical/projected parcel tax implications).
Please review the information and attend the GM.
If you have questions or suggestions, please share via email by July 17th to tirra@thetisisland.net.
We will try to consolidate the information and post for all to consider, by July 20th.

Sunday, July 10, 2022 at 12:14PM On Saturday July 16th. Doug Routley MLA, along with members of the Nanaimo North Cowichan NDP constituency executive, will be coming to Thetis Island.
9:00 to 11:00am - touring local facilities and attractions
11:00 to 11:45am - Meet & Greet at Forbes Hall (all welcome)
12:00 to 1:45pm - Meeting with local community groups (open to all)
In organizing this, my intention was to provide an opportunity to show how special our island is and to highlight some of our 'made in Thetis' solutions. Hopefully we will also find some help overcoming roadblocks we are facing.
Please contact me if you want further information.

Sunday, July 10, 2022 at 12:13PM CBC News has a feature today about the residential school on Penelakut Island, where more than 160 unmarked graves were found last year.
The feature focuses on a Halalt youth, Richard Thomas, who died there in 1966. He was 16. The article recounts these events and some of the dishonorable history of residential schools, and is very much worth reading:
