Visitors' Guide to Thetis Island

Do we want a Visitors' Guide this year? It is a useful way for local businesses and services to make themselves known to visitors, what to see and do (or NOT do) as well as carrying general information for visitors about how the island works.

It is distributed from the ferry booth (if requested), the Chemainus Tourism Information Centre, and various businesses on Thetis and in Chemainus. If you would like to participate in this year's guide, please let me know a.s.a.p. Ideally, we try to get it out in time for the Victoria Day holiday, so we need to know now to start setting it up. If there are enough people to support it, it will happen - if not, not. Last year's guide (as an example of the sort of information that goes in) can be seen at https://www.thetisisland.net/info/Thetis_Island_VG_2022_web.pdf

In the past, we have been able to produce this at a price of $5 per column line for advertisers, and I hope we can keep to that this year, although it will depend on how many are prepared to participate, escalating printing costs being what they are. Nothing will be set up or billed without final permission.

Nature Stewards Program Information Session - April 22

Hello Thetis Islanders, ThINC is launching a Nature Stewards Program this spring! The Nature Stewards Program is a new initiative in collaboration with the Penelakut First Nation and Islands Trust Conservancy (ITC), with guidance from the Gabriola Land and Trails Trust (GaLTT) and Habitat Acquisition Trust (HAT). It aims to encourage and support Thetis Island residents in the stewarding and regeneration of the land and its biodiversity through habitat rewilding, restoration, preservation, and protection.

To learn more about the program and what to expect, we will be hosting an information session on Saturday, April 22 from 10am - 12pm at Forbes Hall, and a special plant walk post lunch with Penelakut elder, Augie Sylvestor.

Nature Stewards Program webpage: https://www.thetisislandnatureconservancy.org/nature-stewards-program

Hope to see you there!
