Friday, April 22, 2022 at 12:50PM I wish to apologize to anyone inconvenienced on the 11:05
ferry on Wednesday.
And, at the same time, I would like to extend my gratitude to the lovely lady who let us precede her onto the ferry.
Your kindness and consideration allowed us to travel to Cowichan District Hospital.
So often, it is the littlest things in life that leave the greatest impressions.
Gratefully,
Lesley Buhr

Friday, April 22, 2022 at 12:49PM I noticed today a posting on e-spokes about the Islands Trust, I searched and found the website for the group that was mentioned and thought for the discussion that is being hosted it might be useful for people to have seen it:

Note that this post is not intended as an endorsement.

Thank you to the 25+ people who have registered to enable us to proceed.
The only thing that could interrupt this event is if between now and 8:30AM Wednesday there is an emergency requiring the Sergeant to cancel.
If it is cancelled, those who have registered will receive a personal email by 9AM.
If you did not register, this does not mean you cannot attend: the registration was just to understand the numbers and ensure we were not wasting
RCMP resources.
Remember, please do not attend if you feel unwell. Masks optional.
Thank you

Wednesday, April 20, 2022 at 8:52AM This is a reminder that the library is always open when the hall is open.
You are welcome to browse in the library anytime over the duration of Soups On or to visit following Soups On to continue conversations begun over lunch.
The librarian will be available from 1:00 to 3:00 and welcomes any ideas you might have regarding books to order or books or topics that might be of interest for future casual discussions in the library.

Wednesday, April 20, 2022 at 8:50AM This Thursday is a Dangerous Cargo day. When the DG is coming only to Thetis, they off-load the cargo and can take on vehicles and passengers for the 9:10 sailing. But when there is DG for Penelakut as well, that DG remains on board the 9:10 sailing and nobody else can go on. That's currently the situation for this Thursday, as well as eliminating access to the 12:30 sailing out of Chemainus for Thetis customers, and of course, the 1:25 from Thetis as well. For a list of future Dangerous Cargo days, with an effort to update when there's a situation like this week's, check out the combined busy ferry schedule on thetisisland.net.
There's a link from the homepage, from the ferry webcam page, or directly from here: http://www.thetisisland.net/ferry/current-combined-busy.pdf If you know of days when there will be extra stress on ferry traffic, please let me know, so it can be included on the combined schedule.
Thanks!

Wednesday, April 20, 2022 at 8:49AM There has been a lot of information circulating from a group that call themselves the Southern Gulf Islands Coalition and West Star Communications on behalf of the Concerned Island Residents Association recently as well as the Islands Trust 2050 events held here a few weeks back.
This all may be confusing and you may have questions or concerns, we would love to have the opportunity to hear from you and share what we know about what is going on at the Islands Trust.
Doug Fenton and I are holding a couple of informal sessions for conversation with you Saturday April 30th 3:00 to 5:00 and the same day 6:00 to 8:00 at Forbes Hall. This is a casual drop in opportunity, please join us if you can.
We are also happy to have chats by phone or in person at any time you can reach us by phone, text or email listed below. Hope to see you and be able to answer any questions you have.

Wednesday, April 20, 2022 at 8:48AM Over the past few weeks there have been unsolicited items left at the entry of Forbes Hall, apparently because the donor thought the items could be used.
Please do not drop off any items without first getting approval by contacting either info@forbeshall.ca or someone directly connected with the end use of the items.
Unfortunately, these items usually end up in the garbage or recycling - which simply makes more work for volunteers.
Thank you

Brother Nouvelle 1500s, straight stitch quilting sewing machine, with large sewing area and large extension table. It too was recently serviced and has many accessories. Asking $400.00.
