Disease Alert: Highly Pathogenic Avian Influenza

The CFIA has released important information regarding the continuing avian influenza outbreak in Canada, which poses a risk not only to poultry producers, but also to small flock, pet birds and wild birds.

Please read the CFIA’s Notice for full details.

The BC Ministry of Agriculture & Food has released its own update, providing BC-specific information, including notification of restrictions on movement of birds within the province.

Cool-weather Clothing Request

Hello Thetis Islanders!

Our son and his family are visiting from Indonesia and we were not expecting that it would be such a cool spring, nor do they have any cold weather clothing! We have mum and dad covered but are searching for some warmer clothes for our two granddaughters, ages 7 and 4. If you have any extra kid cool-weather clothing we could borrow until the weather warms up, that would be wonderful!

Please contact Jan at 250 246 3469 or
jan.fesnoux@gmail.com
Thank you!

Forbes Hall - Plant Sale - Saturday, May 21 1-3 pm

We invite you to divide your perennials, pot up unwanted trees and plants and set up a table to sell them with all or part of the profits collected to be contributed toward the upcoming installation of the gardens at Forbes Hall.  Plant exchanges or straight sales are welcome too.

We will also accept donations of plants that we can sell if you don't want to have your own table and donation of herbs for the creation of a kitchen garden at the back of the Hall.

Please call or email to book a space or donate plants.

We will be setting up in the pavilion at Forbes Hall on Saturday morning.  If you have plants you would like to contribute but are unable to participate in the sale, please drop them off then.  Others are welcome to set up prior to the FireSmart presentation so as not to miss out on this important session. BBQ lunch included with your attendance in the FireSmart presentation.

If you will be away for the weekend but would like to contribute, please contact us to make alternate arrangements.
