A committed team of VIHA professionals and TICA Health Services Committee members Shirley Burr, Jeannine Caldbeck and Ann Dickie are working towards providing more accessible health care for Thetis Islanders, both generally and at Forbes Hall.
One of the key elements in providing this care is for individuals and families to have a local Doctor or Nurse Practitioner in the Ladysmith - Duncan area.
The survey that was done earlier this year showed that over 25% of islanders do not have a family physician or nurse practitioner.
Islanders were asked to register with HealthlinkBC, and those registered are now part of the database that matches individuals with health care providers, as they become available.
If you have registered as an individual, but have other family members or others under your care, who also need a family doctor, it is important that you also register those members of your family as individuals.
Go to https://www.healthlinkbc.ca/health-connect-registry/cowichan to register yourself (if you have not already done so), your family or others under your care.
When a provider becomes available, you will be contacted.
Telephone assistance is available by calling HealthLinkBC at 8-1-1, or for the deaf and hard of hearing, 7-1-1
Translation services are available.
Thanks
Shirley, Jeannine & Ann
