The Christmas Season of Caring

The Thetis Island Fire Department will once again be collecting non-perishable, non-expired and unopened food items for the Food Bank.  We will start the season at Forbes Hall on December 4th when you visit the community centre for the Around the Island Christmas Tour for lunch and artisans’ offerings.

After Dec. 4th there will be a box outside the front door of the firehall that will be emptied daily.  The last collection will be December 16 in the morning so that we can get the donations to Chemainus in time.

The top 5 food items needed are:  canned fruits & vegetables, canned beans, canned soups, canned tuna, and pasta & pasta sauce.  Other food donation considerations are: juice, cereal, baby food, diapers (size 6), toilet paper, bar soap and peanut butter.

Small new toys or gifts (must be unwrapped) were accepted last year and also gift wrapping, even opened rolls, were accepted for the parents wanting to wrap their own gifts for their children.

*Please check expiry or ‘best before’ dates

Scottish Country Dancing - Monday 4pm

We are all set to start dancing again tomorrow, Monday, November 22nd and are looking forward to working with some new dancers.

This would be a good time to start as we will be going slowly and learning, starting from the easiest movements.

If you have not already contacted me and would like to join in, just show up at Forbes Hall at 4 pm wearing light, comfortable clothing, and soft shoes.

This is not HIGHLAND DANCING! Scottish Country Dancing is more akin to Square Dancing and is a lot of fun, it is incredibly good mental and physical exercise and suitable for all ages. This is an adult group (male and female) and age fourteen plus to ninety plus are all welcome.

PHO and Hall rules dictate that all participants must be fully vaccinated and wear masks when not dancing.

For more information contact Shirley (burrleyshir@gmail.com) or phone 250-246-1816.
