Fairy Creek

I am planning another trip to the Fairy Creek old growth forest protest camp on Friday Jan 14.

I have a full load of firewood (thanks Bud and Glenda) but still have some room in the cab of the truck for small items. Rain gear, warm clothes and home cooking are always appreciated I'll be catching the 8:55 Fri am or phone 246-2184 for pick up.

Booster Clinic a Success

The covid booster shot clinic on Tuesday was a success, with just shy of 200 persons attending.  We had nine Island Health staff and nine TIVFD & TIVFD Auxiliary persons on site, and because it was a Booster Shot Clinic the Province loosened the “social distancing” regulations, which allowed for a better flow and a smoother running clinic.  

The Goodings loaned two HEPA Filter air exchange systems to continuously clean the air during the event.  Pot of Gold donated the coffee, and the Thetis Island Community Fund supported the juice and snacks for the post-shot waiting period.  A special thank-you to Dr. Michelle Sutter for sitting at the intake table to greet people upon entry, and to be on stand-by with our designated clinic First Responder in case of a medical emergency.  

Thanks as well to all who attended this Whole Community event, despite the chaos of the Provincial sign-up system.

Now that the snow is melting, and the rains have returned, it seems to be an opportune time to thank Joe Lang and Joe Knowles of Emcon for the many hours they put in plowing and sanding our roads.

While some towns may still have snow on their side streets, our main and side roads were cleared numerous times during each snow event. They also dealt with very early mornings, downed trees, and stuck residents. We are very fortunate to have a dedicated crew here on Thetis.

Yoga Zoom Classes

So looking forward to the time we can all get together again in the Hall, meanwhile to help us stay connected, I am teaching the following classes via Zoom:

Vinyasa Zoom Yoga with Karen Today -  8am-9am, Wednesday 12th January 2022

Quick reminder am teaching the above Vinyasa Zoom class this morning at 8am, if there is anyone else who would like to join, please email me by 7:45am and I can send you the link :)  This class is designed for intermediate to advanced students, and those people wishing for a more dynamic practise synchronizing movement with breath.  

Hatha Flow Zoom Yoga with Karen - 9:45am - 10:45am, Thursday, 13th January 

Slow flow Thursdays, grab any props you may need blocks/straps/cushions or equivalent at home items.  This is an all-levels class suitable for beginners upwards, so if you are new to yoga it’s a great class to test the waters.  Please email me for the link, or if you have any other questions.

Knitting Bee

Due to the latest COVID variant I have decided to err on the side of caution and cancel the Knitting Bee.
