Repair Fair Information Tables

In addition to the Repair Fair 'MacGyvers' we will have a number of tables providing information.

Goosey Gander will be there. Nan Beals will help explain how her consignment store works. A great way to find new homes for your under used items.

We will have a table of kitchen ideas. From finding uses for peels and cores to ideas about using what is growing naturally around us as well as restoring kitchen utensils and boards. With rising food prices we can stretch our food dollars.

H.E.L.P (Health Equipment Loaner Program) will have a display of a wide selection of health equipment that is available for islanders.

Community Climate Resilience will also have an general information display about the importance of the 7R's (replace, redesign, recycle, refuse, repurpose, remodify, recover).

Looking forward to seeing you at the Repair Fair. May 3rd, 10-2, Forbes Hall

What Fresh @ Jollity Farm this Easter Weekend?

Open Saturday 10am to 1pm

Our Chemainus farm shop and cafe will be closed Friday through Monday! It is rare for us to close even for a day, but it's time for the next phase in our renos. We will be reopening next Tuesday with new floors in the cafe. Yahoo!

From Jollity and our local farm friends, here is what's fresh this week:

  • Mixed salad greens (lots more than last week)
  • Kale
  • Rhubarb
  • Arugula
  • Brassica shoots
  • Free range eggs
  • Braising greens

On the kombucha taps: Nettles and Petals / Botanical Pear

Jewel and E will be doing some training and prep work in the community kitchen on Friday, so we'll add a few treats to the Saturday market selection - vegan cheesecake slices, “What the Pucks!”, Peanut sauce, and maybe more!

With thanks, Jollity Farmers

And for our Friday, Saturday specials we still have 3 courses available with an Easter theme.

Entree: SLOW ROASTED PORCHETTA Stuffed and rolled pork loin served over roasted root vegetables with pork jus

Dessert: MINI DESSERT WAFFLE STACK Lemon curd and grand marnier strawberries bruleed with chocolate sauce

And, our last Sunday breakfast feature is a HAM, WILD MUSHROOM AND GOAT CHEESE OMELETTE

Repair Fair Profiles

The repair fair is less than three weeks away. There will be many participants with a wide range of skills.

In building/renovating advice we will have Ernie Hunter and Tess & Richard DeMarco.

Ernie is the true 'Ask me anything' guy. Have a question he probably has the answer, or he can point you in the right direction.

Tess & Richard DeMarco have been operating RITE Renovations since 2004. Their expertise is in building on a budget, having renovated 3 homes from Nickel Bros. that otherwise were destined for the landfill.

Ask them about:

  • Sourcing materials
  • When do you need special trades
  • Resources and basic tools for DIY
  • When do you need a permit
  • Recycling and repurposing building material
