Housing Survey Deadline Extended to December 15, 2017
Wednesday, November 29, 2017 at 8:43PM Islands Trust Housing Survey
The Islands Trust Local Planning Committee needs your input! A Housing Needs Assessment is underway for the Northern Region of the Islands Trust, including the Denman, Gabriola, Gambier, Hornby, Lasqueti and Thetis Local Trust Areas.
Housing Needs Assessments are essential documents used to enable the development of affordable housing. The Northern Housing Needs Assessment is intended to identify the types of housing that are needed on each island, understand which population groups are in particular need of suitable and affordable housing, and provide baseline information for future housing initiatives.
Please help us understand your island’s unique housing needs by taking the housing survey and sharing this link!
https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/islands-trust-housing-survey
The survey will close on December 15, 2017. Results will be reported to Local Trust Committees in early 2018.
For further information, please visit the Islands Trust website at www.islandstrust.bc.ca , email northinfo@islandstrust.bc.ca or call 250.247.2063.

ThINC Annual Memberships at the Christmas Bazaar
Wednesday, November 29, 2017 at 8:37PM The Thetis Island Nature Conservancy will be offering annual memberships at the Christmas Bazaar this year. In our first five years, as we've been developing the organization, full voting membership in ThINC has been restricted to board members. Thanks to enormous community support, we're feeling solid now and we want to open up the organization to anyone who would like to support nature education, stewardship and conservation on Thetis Island. For a donation of only $20/year for an individual or family, a membership will give you voting rights at our AGM, a subscription to our mailing list for news and program information, and discounts for Friends of the Nature House memberships and other programs throughout the year. If you are already an associate member, your first year of full membership will be free! Local business and patron memberships are also available. Membership forms can also be downloaded from our website
www.thetisislandnatureconservancy.org
or picked up at the library.
Come by our table at the hall on Saturday. We'll also have cards, nature pamphlets and an opportunity to go home with an owl box or one of Roy Holloway's beautiful handmade leather bags. See you then.

Thank You for Attending - Forbes Hall Expansion
Monday, November 27, 2017 at 10:43PM Thank you to all who attended the TICA members meeting on Sunday where the concept designs and floor plans for the Forbes Hall Expansion were presented.
Many questions were put to committee members who readily replied and after three fruitful hours membership came to a strong consensus to "keep going".
Next steps include various design aspects, fundraising and grant applications, expense and resource forecasting, volunteer recruitment and continuing member input. To offer support in any form please contact hall@thetisisland.net.
For more information about the meeting or the project please visit the Forbes Hall Expansion page on TICA’s website or the Thetis blog. www.thetisisland.net/tica/hall-exp.html or www.thetisblog.net

Forbes Hall Fridge Users
Monday, November 27, 2017 at 11:25AM When you have cream or other perishable items in the fridge that you no longer want, but are still prior to the Best Before Date, please clearly mark them with “for community use”, or “please use”.
The items typically sit there until past their Best Before Dates, as no one feels that they are theirs to be used. Marking items is one quick way to lessen waste, and reduce goods sitting abandoned in the fridge. Once marked, anyone can toss them after their Best Before Dates.
Thanks
Don Sinclair
