Friday, December 27, 2013 at 6:09PM New Forbes Hall Defibrillator Training
Your TICA Board will be installing the new Public Access Defibrillator at Forbes Hall sometime in January.
The TIVFD invites you to take a 30-minute familiarization workshop with us. While learning how to operate the AED may not change your life, it might change your neighbour's life.
We will hold a "hands-on" seminar at the Firehall on Saturday, Jan 4 at 10AM, on Monday, Jan. 6 at 2PM and 7 PM.
Please e-mail chief11@telus.net to let us know which workshop you will be attending.
This seminar will be of special interest to the "kitchen crew" who attend many community centre functions, and those who use Forbes Hall for recreation and/or social events.

Friday, December 27, 2013 at 5:40PM Thanks, endless deep thanks for all the love and support you have showered upon our family during this challenging time. We always knew we lived in a great community but now have deeply experienced it and feel such overwhelming gratitude.
And so, as I have learned to say from First Nations sisters and brothers, I raise my hands to you, wonderful people, I raise my hands to you all and honour you for your support and generosity. I'd like to share with you all my favorite gratitude song by Natalie Merchant, and dedicate it to you.
We hope you have a fantastic holiday celebrating life on this beautiful island, on this beautiful Earth. Happy, happy Winter...hope to see you very soon.
Love and Blessings, Steph, Chad, and Aislinn
Tuesday, December 24, 2013 at 7:45PM He sprang to his sleigh, to his team gave a whistle,
And away they all flew like the down of a thistle.
But I heard him exclaim, ‘ere he drove out of sight,
"Happy Christmas to all, and to all a good-night!"

Monday, December 23, 2013 at 11:01PM Many parties were held on the island over the weekend. If you'd like to share photos, just sent them along.
A bunch of the island's women dressed up to celebrate the 50's & 60's, and dance to a few golden oldies.

Sunday, December 22, 2013 at 11:27AM Ann looked out the window this morning and said, with a smile, there's a tree on top of the car. I was grateful for the smile, but still thought she might be referring to something that had fallen during the night.
Lo and behold, it was the Christmas tree taken from our car in Duncan on Wednesday evening. I phoned Don Bazinet of the Sally Ann to thank him for holding it and to see if he remembered the good Samaritan's name. Alas, all he could recall was a van and driver whose name perhaps began with an R.
Could this be Ralph or some other R-Elf? Whoever is responsible for this generous act, please know there are two happy campers here at 81 Blue Heron. Thanks for the gesture, and the sneaky delivery.
