Food Bank Drop Off Box at Fire Hall—donations accepted until Wed, Dec 21

Our thanks and appreciation goes out to those of you who have already generously donated non-perishable food items, small unwrapped gifts, warm new socks, and gift wrapping paper to the Harvest House Food Bank by dropping off at the Fire Hall.  We will take in donations daily to Wednesday, December 21st afternoon.  The Food Bank’s favoured items are pasta and sauces, paper diapers, tinned vegetables & fruit, soups, juices for children’s lunches, and adult socks (a pair of new warm socks can feel miraculous to a person with no chance of doing laundry.).

Make this season a little bit more special for our neighbours in need.

The Winter Concert---A Post-Event Note to the Thetis Community

This past weekend’s winter concert was a delightful success thanks to the many who responded to our calls for help to set up and take down the room, sharing homemade and delicious treats and bravely offering their own particular talents on and off the stage. Over one hundred people filled the room and seasonal merriment was enjoyed by everyone before and after. The concert reminded us that this community is like a piece of cloth: each person adds their part to numerous diverse, unique and contrasting colours, textures, patterns and meaning, in turn creating a cloth that makes this community unique and special.

For many years, Lynn and Tricia Hunter have quietly supported this event with their musical, technical and decorative abilities behind the scenes and Simone again kept it all on track as a true master of the ceremonies. I have been privileged to work with them in the execution of this event and I am now planning how to make it an even more fun event next year, especially for the young and young at heart’sters.

Thank you, Thetis, for the gifts you give.

Marina & Post Office Limited Service

Is this the wackiest full moon of the year or is it just my imagination? Adding to an already challenging week (thank you everyone for your patience, understanding, kindness, and humour!) we very regretfully must close the restaurant until next Thursday due to some staff feeling under the weather.

It’s so important to me that our staff take needed time to rest and recover if they aren’t feeling 100% (it’s not Covid...I promise!). We’re in the off season and operating with a skeleton crew, so if 1 or 2 people can’t come in...well, we turn into a chaotic game of Dominoes! That’s not the kind of service our guests deserve.

Thank you in advance for being patient. Please come and check out some of the festive gift and entertaining options in the store, and give 3 cheers because the Post Office is back to normal on Saturday! There a few days worth of mail to sort….so be prepared with a joke or a story to tell if you find yourself stuck in line for a few minutes (jokes that make me groan or roll my eyes always win!).

Stay warm and dry and cozy! We’ll see you back for some yummy specials on Thursday!

Cheers,
Erin & Staff at the Marina
