Looking to Live on Thetis Island

Hello Thetis Island,

My wife and I are posting to find out if anyone is renting their home on Thetis Island. We are dreaming about what it might be like to spend 1-2 years living on Thetis and sending our 3 children (ages 8, 7, & 6) to the one room schoolhouse. We were both students at Capernwray and loved the culture and beauty on Thetis. We are seeking a 3-4 bedroom, close to the ferry. Possible move-in would be late July / early August. Thank you for your consideration,

The Harringtons

National Volunteer Week 2023

April 16th - 22nd

National Volunteer Week (NVW) a week-long celebration of volunteering that takes place every year during April. It's a time to celebrate and thank Canada’s 24 million volunteers, including Thetis Island Volunteers and supporters without whom so many of Canada’s organizations and programs would not be able to function.

Celebrating BC’s volunteers (YOU) and highlighting the many groups that create a strong interconnected and vibrant community here on Thetis Island, and including our neighbours on Penelakut, Vancouver Island and Gulf islands.

The National Volunteer Week theme for 2023 is Volunteering Weaves Us Together. National Volunteer Week brings together events, stories, and activities to celebrate everything wonderful about volunteering. Volunteering that weaves us together by sharing our time, talent and energy to support one another. Through our interconnected actions we demonstrate the importance of volunteering to the strength and vibrancy of our community here on Thetis Island. So, thanks to you, for all you do.

PAG Spring Cleaning on Sunday, April 16th from 10-12

Join us at the PAG (Lot 62) this Sunday from 10am - 12pm for a wee work party to get the space in shape for summer workshops. We will continue weeding, pruning, and applying finished compost around our spring plants. I will be out there rain or shine (looking more likely like rain).

Thank you to those who came out to the PAG last Wednesday. A fair bit was accomplished, and things are beginning to take shape! Evening primrose surrounds the raised beds that contain various members of the mint family: apple mint, spearmint, lemon balm, and chocolate mint (Fun fact: A LOT of medicinal plants are members of the mint family, Lamiaceae, which can be identified by a square stem). Our bay tree survived the winter, with protection from its mini greenhouse, and we found mallow hidden amongst the primrose, yarrow, and deadnettle!

Septic Tank Pump Outs

We are planning on having our septic tank pumped out in the near future. Tanks should be pumped out every 5 years. We have our name in at Save-On Septic which needs a minimum of 3 before they come over.

If it’s time you had your tank pumped out, contact Save-On at 250-748-5676 to add your name to the list.
