Thank You, Chief Caldbeck

A big thank you to Chief Caldbeck and our Fire Department for keeping us safe during this unprecedented dry spell. The right decisions are rarely the fun or popular decisions but I for one appreciate the cautious approach to ensure our safety.

And on a selfish note, not cutting my grass for 3 months guilt free was an added benefit.

Thank you,

Andrew David

Free Bicycles

Two bikes, a women's and a men's are at #15 Foster Point Road - at the top of the driveway on the grass. The bikes need TLC, a good project for the coming rainy weather.

Campfires & High-Risk Activities

Small evening campfires are now permitted with a Fire Permit.  Please be aware that the undergrowth, autumn leaves and dusty soils are not yet moisture laden and your sparks are still dangerous.  Monitor your campfire and extinguish it thoroughly.

High Hazard Activities, such as chain-sawing, road building, chipping etc. may now resume.  But again, please be very cautious until we get some real soaker rain.

YARD WASTE FIRES ARE NOT PERMITTED AT THIS TIME.

From November 1st to March 31st Fire Permits are not required, unless specified otherwise due to weather conditions.

Let’s all hope that we get lots of rain soon.

If you had already applied earlier for a campfire permit, one will be issued to your email address today.  For a campfire permit to October 31, go to www.thetisislandfire.ca and follow the links to Fire Permits.
