Healing Inner Voices - the Launch of Stamina not Stigma - a Gulf Island event series

We, the Stamina not Stigma team, have been working to create a few events that will embrace discussion of health issues in the rural areas of the Salish Sea. We invite you to join us if you live in or around the Southern Gulf Islands.

Below is a link to an invitation to join the Southern Gulf Islands AIDS Society in the launch of a series of events that will open conversations around aspects of rural health-care in the Southern Gulf Islands, especially as it relates to living with episodic illnesses like HIV.

If you have not seen this film, this is an excellent opportunity to learn more from the vices of Indigenous folk living with HIV.

Have a look at our website for further events. Just to intrigue you — one will focus on women — another on BIPOC communities — and more...

Much love to all — Peggy Frank

I am privileged and honoured to be writing to you from sxʷeŋxʷəŋ təŋəxʷ - pronounced s-hweng hw-ung tongue-oo-hw, - the Lekwungen name for James Bay.
sxʷeŋxʷəŋ təŋəxʷ is part of the Songhees and Esquimalt First Nations unceded traditional territory. I also have the great joy of spending part of each year on Thetis Island, part of the Puneluxutth or Penelakut traditional territory.

Friday, November 12 Project-Re-Generation 2-hr Workshop

Hello Thetis Islanders!

Join Project -Re- Generation (ReGen) alumni, Kaia and Kasian, along with Olena Russell and myself in a place - and action-based workshop at the ThINC Nature House (The Portal) on Friday, November 12 between 9:30 - 11:30. During the 2-hour period, we will be guiding you through a hyper-condensed version of ReGen, unpacking the learning and design process through a series of activities, while sharing its impacts on both students and community members alike.

For those of you who are unfamiliar with ReGen, here is a brief overview: ReGen is an immersive place - and project-based learning experience designed to inspire, empower, and activate youth to become engaged community members through design thinking and regenerative action. Participants learn by doing: exploring and connecting with place; engaging with community experts from diverse backgrounds; and working collaboratively on an authentic sustainability project of their choosing.

Over the last year, ThINC has hosted the program in both its hybrid form (Summer-Fall 2020 and Summer 2021) as well as the full, 8-week pilot program last spring! To learn more about the program, please visit the ThINC website: https://www.thetisislandnatureconservancy.org/project-re-generation

In addition to getting a better idea of what the program is all about, your participation and feedback will help us prepare for our Pro-D Day workshop later this month. Wahoo!

If you are interested in participating, please let me know by emailing me at: charlotte@thetisislandnatureconservancy.org

Many thanks!

Ferry Schedule "Stickies" are Here

The new ferry schedule, printed on label stock so that it can be stuck over the old schedule on the back of your phone books, is available now.

You can pick yours up from either the Post Office during its open hours, or from me at Lot 410.  Give me a call or email first, to be sure I'm home.

Only 100 people asked for them, but we did print more so there should be enough, even if you didn't preorder.
