A special online UVic event with Penelakut Elders Florence James and Ray Tony Charlie is happening June 30th from 9-10:30 am on zoom.

Gasoline Containers

A resident contacted the department with this safety tip:  

Check your stored gas cans and open the small vent to release the pressure during this heat wave.

There is a possibility that the Jerry cans could explode with the build up of vapours inside. Not all gas cans are created equal, and increased vapour pressures on some older containers will cause failures.

CVRD News Flash

CVRD garbage and recycling centres to close at 12 noon Sunday and Monday 

Due to the record-breaking heat forecast, the CVRD is limiting operations at it’s three solid waste centres to 8 AM - 12 PM on Sunday and Monday for the safety of staff and the public. Check back for further service interruptions

NO Hazardous Activities.  NO CAMPFIRES.  All campfire permits suspended.

Approved propane campfire and BBQ appliances are exempt. 

No solid fuel flames.

Let’s all hope this doesn’t last.  Please be very cautious with where you park on grass.
